Literature Text

I.
We are a nation bought and sold
All in the name of silver and gold
Where Wall Street goons and corporatist swine
Bow down to the almighty dollar sign

II.
It's a sign of the times
CEOs are not answering for their crimes
God bless the United States of Wall $treet
The ever expanding profit margins are sewing the seeds
of middle class defeat

III.
"Greed is good" that's what they say
Bribing leaders and rigging systems are the games they play
Can't be satisfied with what they've got
Cause they've got to have it all
The kill squad is primed and ready
With democracy blindfolded and against the wall

IV.
When are we going to wake up?
Open our eyes and say "enough is enough?"
There is strength in numbers, that much is true
We are the many, and the many outnumber the few.

V.
It's time for a revolution
Disrupting the status quo is the only solution
Brothers and sisters we need to bleed the fat cats dry
Burn their empire to ash and let our Phoenix fly!
This was born out of an unfinished work from four years ago that I found in my notebook, it isn't very good, but I did my best to finish it and submit it so that it could be enjoyed by all. Sorry if this feels like less than 100% from me, but I am a little out of practice and I hope I hit my creative stride again soon!

Amazing poem, the stark, terse language and sharp rhymes make your message clear in denouncing the culture of greed.

We live in a vile society if callous, unrelenting greed and screwing over poor people for your own gain is considering a "virtue", or something to aspire to. I'm not spiritual in the slightest, from a moral standpoint, it truly sickens me.

When money talks, the truth is silent. Just look at "Citizens United", or the global warming deniers kissing up to the oil and gas industries. Or mercenary military companies and "private" prisons.
